SpendSense — Android personal expense tracker

This page describes how to remove your SpendSense data, what gets deleted, and what is retained.
What data we hold
- Local on-device data: transactions, budgets, goals, splits, app preferences, optional location tags, and any receipt images you have attached. Stored in an encrypted SQLCipher database and app-private file storage on your phone. Not transmitted to our backend.
- Anti-fraud record (our backend): one record containing a random anonymous identifier and the timestamp your free trial began. No personal data. No transaction data. Retained permanently to prevent trial abuse — see What is retained below.
- Encrypted Drive backups (only if you have enabled Drive Backup as a Premium subscriber): AES-256-encrypted backup blobs in your own Google Drive's hidden app-folder. Stored in your Drive — only you can access them.
- Subscription billing records: held by Google Play, not by us. We do not store payment information.
How to delete your data
Option 1 — Clear app data (fastest, removes everything on this device)
- Open Android Settings → Apps → SpendSense → Storage.
- Tap Clear data.
This immediately deletes the encrypted database, receipt images, preferences, and any location tags. Because all your financial data is stored on your device only, this single step removes everything except the anti-fraud record (see What is retained below).
Option 2 — Uninstall the app
Uninstalling removes all local data, equivalent to Option 1.
Option 3 — In-app account deletion
- Open the SpendSense app.
- Go to More → Settings.
- Scroll to Account and tap Delete Account & Data.
- Confirm the deletion.
This deletes the anonymous Firebase user created on first launch. It does not delete the anti-fraud record (see What is retained) and does not delete local data — pair it with Option 1 or 2 if you also want local data removed.
Option 4 — Delete Drive backups (if you used Drive Backup)
- Open drive.google.com and sign in with the account you used for backup.
- Click the gear icon → Settings → Manage apps.
- Find SpendSense in the list.
- Click Options → Delete hidden app data.
Option 5 — Email request (fallback)
If you cannot use the in-app options (for example, you have already uninstalled), email us at info@aycreation.com with the subject line Data deletion request. We will respond within 7 business days.
Please note: because SpendSense stores your financial data only on your device, in most cases you do not need to contact us — Options 1 and 2 remove everything on the device instantly with no server-side action required.
What is retained, and for how long
- Anti-fraud record: one record (anonymous identifier + trial-start timestamp) retained permanently to prevent free-trial abuse via reinstall. No personal data. Neither you nor we can delete it.
- Subscription transaction records: retained by Google Play per their Play Billing terms — typically 7 years for tax/accounting compliance. We have no control over these. You can manage your subscriptions at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions.
- Email correspondence: if you contact us via email, we retain the email thread for up to 12 months for support continuity, after which it is deleted.
